The p4audit service user of security subsystem executes the functions:
Correct work of auditing and user locking.
Using application role on working with DBMS.
Using password hashing function on internal authorization.
If login is executed via DBMS, there is no necessity to store hashes. The entered user information is directly transformed into hash and is sent to server.
There is an option of sending password without hashing, in this case password are sent in the open format. When hashing is enabled, the created hashes are stored in a special table that can be accessed only by the p4audit user.
To create a service user in the Users section:
Select the Tools > Create Service User of Security Subsystem main menu item.
Select the Create Service User of Security Subsystem radio button in the repository manager.
NOTE. A service user can be created only in the desktop application by the administrator or by the user with the Creating and Deleting Users and Applying Permissions at DBMS Level privileges.
If the user is not available at the server, on executing this command the system opens a standard dialog box for requesting credentials of the server administrator.
If the p4audit user already exists at the server, the required permissions at DBMS level are granted as a result of the operation. The password is not changed if a valid password is entered for the user.
After this process is finished, the message informing on operation result appears.
