Managing Dictionary Elements and Hierarchies

You can use groups of elements, selection schemas and dictionary hierarchies to facilitate the work with dictionaries containing a large number of elements.

A group of elements is a repository object used in dictionaries to limit the list of available elements.

Selection schema is a repository object used in dictionary to automatically select elements based on specified criteria.

Dictionary hierarchy represents rules that used to group elements in dimension.

Groups of elements, selection schemas and hierarchies created for dictionary can be used in all Foresight Analytics Platform tools.

A dictionary can also be set up to work with alternative hierarchies, that enable the user to display in the dictionary different sets of data under different conditions.

The Groups of Elements/Selection Schemas standard dialog boxes are implemented to work with parametric dictionaries. Opening an object with defined parameters displays the Determine Parameter Values dialog box. On creating a list of group elements, based on a primitive, this dialog box opens only for the primitives: Elements From The List and Elements By Common Owner. The dialog box does not open for the Level Elements and Using Application Macro primitives.

On determining a selection mechanism, based on the primitive, the Determine Parameter Values dialog box opens only for the following primitives: Select by List, Select Descendants, Always Select Level, Always Select with Parents, Always Select with Descendants. The dialog box does not open for the Select All, Select Level and Using Application Macro primitives.
