Series Tree

The series tree displays a tree-like structure of elements of the opened data source. It is used to add variables to a model. Time series databases are available as data sources.

The tree structure is based on attribute sequence defined in the breadcrumb. Levels of tree hierarchy are shown as folders, which names match the attribute values. Multiple elements can be selected in the tree if the user holds down the SHIFT or CTRL keys.

The breadcrumb is shown under the series tree. The user can work with it after selecting a data source. The first element displayed in the breadcrumb is the name of the time series database that is used as a data source, then its attributes are displayed. After attribute order in the breadcrumb changes, the series tree hierarchy is rebuilt. If the breadcrumb does not contain the selected attributes, the elements are shown as a list.

Operations with Series Tree

Go to the Home or View ribbon tab.
Use the Series Tree button.

Go to the Home or View ribbon tab.
Press the bottom of the Series Tree button to display the list of all available data sources.
Select the required source.

The elements tree and the breadcrumb are rebuilt according to the selected source.

Go to the Home or View ribbon tab.
Press the bottom of the Series Tree button to display the list of all available data sources.
Click the Data Import button.

The data import wizard opens.

Operations with Series Tree Elements

Open context menu of the series tree.
Select or deselect the Show Tooltip checkbox. The checkbox is deselected by default, and the tooltip is not shown.

Select the Hide item. The menu opens where filtering options can be selected:
- No Filter. If the radio button is selected, empty elements are not filtered. The series tree shows empty folders and non-existing but possible elements. Non-existing elements are the elements obtained from the difference between the Cartesian product of all the attributes displayed in the elements tree and existing elements.
- Empty Series. If the radio button is selected, the series tree does not show empty elements.
- Empty Series and Folders. If the radio button is selected, the series tree does not show empty elements and folders that have no elements. The radio button is selected by default.

The series tree is rebuilt taking into account the specified filtering.

Operations with Breadcrumb

To open the menu, use the button.

If the menu is opened for:

Data source. The list of all data source's attributes and commands for working with breadcrumb are displayed.
Attribute. The list of attributes that have not yet been used in the breadcrumb and commands for working with the attribute are displayed.

Click the button.
In the menu select an attribute in the Add group.

The attribute is added to the breadcrumb after the button. All the succeeding attributes are deleted.

In the menu select an attribute in the Replace With group.

The attribute is placed into the breadcrumb instead of the attribute, which menu was opened. The order and structure of other attributes remain unchanged.

When a time series database is created, default sequence of attributes is specified.

To use this sequence in the breadcrumb:

Open data source's menu by clicking the button.
Select the Default Order item.

The sequence of attributes is changed.

Open attribute's menu by clicking the button.
Select the Remove item.

The attribute is removed from the breadcrumb.

Open attribute's menu by clicking the button.
Select the Clear Breadcrumb item.

All attributes are removed from the breadcrumb.

To show a hierarchical menu that contains attribute values, click its name.

Use the Expand All and Collapse All context menu items to expand or collapse the hierarchy.

To quickly sort values:

Open attribute's menu by clicking the button.
Select the Sorting item. The submenu opens to select sorting order for attribute values.
Select the radio button that determines the sorting direction. The values are not sorted by default.

Elements order changes in accordance with the selected sorting order.

For advanced sorting:

Display the attribute values list.
Open the list's context menu.
Select the Sorting item. The submenu opens:
- Ascending. Sorting is executed by ascending values of attribute.
- Descending. Sorting is executed by descending values of attribute.

- By Attribute. The list contains all attributes of the source dimension. Select the radio button next to the attribute, by which values sorting is executed.
  If sorting direction is not set before attribute is selected, the ascending values sorting is executed.

Elements order is to be changed according to the specified sorting parameters.

Open attribute's menu by clicking the button.
Select the Filtering checkbox.

To set a filter, select the required elements in the attribute values list. Selection data is shown in brackets after the attribute name in the breadcrumb.

Select the Level Names item. The submenu opens:
- Default. The attribute values list contains the attribute used by default to set element names in the source dimension.
- List of dimension attributes. The list contains all attributes of the source dimension. Select the radio button next to the attributes, which values must be shown in the list.

Names of elements in the list are changed according to the specified parameters.
