Setting Up General Parameters of Axis

To show or hide primary axes, select or deselect the Show X Axis and/or Show Y Axis checkboxes. These checkboxes are enabled by default.

To show or hide the secondary axis, select or deselect the Show Secondary Axis checkbox.

NOTE. Secondary axis display can be set up only if this axis is available.

To set up axis caption, use the Captions tab of the Chart Parameters dialog box.

To set up scale line format, use the Scale Line parameters group. Execute a set of actions:

1. Select line type in the Line Type drop-down list.

2. Select line width in the Width drop-down list. Selecting the Custom option opens the Line Width dialog box. Select the required line width manually or using the value editor.

3. Select line color in the drop-down palette or select a new color in the advanced color palette opened on clicking the Other button.

4. Select the scale line transparency percentage in the Transparency editor.

To set up tick mark line format, use the Tick Mark Lines parameters group:

1. In the Position drop-down list select how the tick mark lines should intersect the axis: Cross Axis, Outside or Inside.

2. Select line type in the Line Type drop-down list.

3. Select line width in the Width drop-down list. Selecting the Custom option opens the Line Width dialog box. Select the required line width manually or using the value editor.

4. Select line color in the drop-down palette or select a new color in the advanced color palette opened on clicking the Other button.

5. Select scale line transparency percentage in the Transparency editor.

To show separating lines in the axis, select the Separating Lines checkbox.

The setting is available for all types of charts except for scatter chart, pie chart, doughnut chart, radar chart, bubble chart, secondary histogram and secondary pie chart.

NOTE. The setting is available only for the X axis.

To set up grid:

1. Select the Show Grid checkbox.

2. Select grid type in the View drop-down list:

1. • Lines. The grid will be based on axis level lines.

   • Tick Marks. The grid will be based on tick marks.

3. Select line type in the Line Type drop-down list.

4. Select line width in the Width drop-down list. Selecting the Custom option opens the Line Width dialog box. Select the required line width manually or using the value editor.

NOTE. Value input is available in different measurement units but the input box always shows the value in points (1/72 inch).

5. Select line color in the drop-down palette or select a new color in the advanced color palette opened on clicking the Other button.

6. Select grid transparency percentage in the Transparency editor.

To show axis labels, select the Show Labels checkbox.

To show zero mark on the scale, select the Always Show Zero checkbox.

Displaying zero at Y axis is available if:

• A fixed value range that includes zero is selected on the Scale tab using the Maximum Value and Minimum Value parameters. The minimum value is much greater than zero.

• The Minimum Value parameter is set to Auto.

To display tick marks on zero line, select the Show Tick Marks on Zero Line checkbox on the View tab of the Axis Format dialog box.

The setting is available only for the Y axis if the Always Show Zero checkbox is selected. If the value axis contains the minimum and maximum that are certainly less than zero or certainly greater than zero, tick mark lines are displayed on the category axis (X).
