Requirements for Topobase Availability

A topobase is required to be loaded in order to work with a map in the repository.

Topobase is a file in TBS or SVG format which is converted in various formats on loading to repository. The required format is selected automatically depending on where a topobase is used and which settings are set. To display data, the default topobase specified in the current repository is used.

In topobase map data is presented as a set of layers. Each layer is described by special attributes and presents a class of map data. For example, the layer with city coordinates or the layer describing country outliers.

The required topobases can be included into Prognoz Platform 9 distribution kit.

Operations with Topobase

Topobase is loaded from object navigator of the desktop application. To do this:

Click the New Object button in the Create group on the Home ribbon tab and select the Map item.
Select the Create > Map item in the context menu of the object navigator.

A standard file selection dialog box opens. Select topobase file with the *.tbs or *.svg extension.

NOTE. Topobase is automatically converted on loading. If a topobase is loaded to the repository using PROGNOZ 5 tools, it must be converted.

For repository the default topobase can be selected. It will be used to show map in all reports. Working with a report provides a possibility to replace default topobase by any other topobase.

Default topobase can be selected using Fore language.

To replace a topobase data, select the Load from File item in the map's context menu of the object navigator.

A standard file selection dialog box opens. Select topobase file with the *.tbs or *.svg extension which data should be loaded to the current topobase.

To save topobase data to *.tbs or *.svg file, select the Save to File topobase context menu item in object navigator.

A standard dialog box to save the file on the local disk opens. Select the folder where the file will be saved.

On loading a topobase to the repository, the topobase is automatically converted.

It is required to manually convert a topobase, if:

A map is loaded to the repository using PROGNOZ 5 tools.
Zoom is not available for a map, timeline is not displayed and 3D mode is not available.
On publishing a report to mobile application the map is not exported because there were no topobases of certain format supported by the mobile application.

To convert, select the Convert Topobase item in the topobase context menu of the object navigator. The map topobase is converted to the following formats:

SVG or TBS depending on the topobase in use.
Triangulate for 3D maps.
Google for connecting such external map services as Google Maps, Bing, and so on
VML for supporting earlier versions of Internet Explorer.
Sphere for supporting spherical maps (in the form of a globe).
TriangulateSmall for supporting triangular topobase but with the reduced number of nodes equal to 65536, for OpenGL ES. It supports maps in mobile applications.
GRD for supporting metainformation with geographical data binding. It supports maps in mobile applications.

NOTE. A topobase can also be converted using the Fore language.
