Dimension Elements Layout

1. Select the heading, sidehead, dimension or level, for which layout must be set up.

2. Select the Layout tab on the side panel in the group of tabs with element settings.

NOTE. The group of tabs with element settings is renamed according to the selected element: if sidehead or heading are selected, the tab is named Header; if the dimension is selected, it is named Dimension; if level is selected, it is named Level.

To arrange elements of different levels in different columns select the Level Elements to Separate Columns checkbox. The initial table is shown on the left, the table after the checkbox is selected is on the right:

Duplicate cells appear on selecting the Level Elements to Separate Columns checkbox on the Layout side panel tab.

To show or hide duplicate cells in the data table, select or deselect the Show Duplicate Cells checkbox. Duplicate cells are shown by default. If the checkbox is deselected, level name is displayed in the separate row before level elements and in the merged cell opposite to level elements. The table where the Level Elements to Separate Columns checkbox is selected is shown on the left, the table with the Level Elements to Separate Columns and Show Duplicate Cells checkboxes are selected on the right:

When the Merge checkbox is selected, duplicate elements will be displayed only for the first cell of the level; when the checkbox is deselected, elements will be repeated for each level element. The table where the Level Elements to Separate Columns and Show Duplicate Cells checkboxes are selected is shown on the left, the table with the Level Elements to Separate Columns, Show Duplicate Cells and Merge checkboxes are selected on the right:

The Merge checkbox is available and selected by default if the Show Duplicate Cells checkbox is selected.

To show or hide expanders for parent elements of hierarchy:

1. Select or deselect the Expanders checkbox on the Layout side panel tab.

2. Determine behavior of expanders on refreshing report. To do this, select one of the radio buttons:

• Collapse. Dimension hierarchy is collapsed on report calculation.

• Expand. Dimension hierarchy is expanded on report calculation.

When expanders are hidden, all collapsed child elements will be expanded in the table:

If several dimensions are located by columns or rows, it is recommended to use stairs hierarchy to separate dimension elements in the sidehead or heading.

Select the Use Stairs Hierarchy checkbox to apply stairs hierarchy.

In order child elements are displayed before parent ones, select the Child Elements Before Parent checkbox:

In order parent elements of hierarchy are displayed before and after children, select the Repeat Level Element for Children checkbox:

To set margins for child element names, enter or select margin size in millimeters in the Level Elements Margins value editor.

The table below shows margin 15 millimeters:

To show or hide sorting icons , select or deselect the Show Sorting Icons checkbox.

To show or hide numbering of row or column headers, select or deselect the Use Numbering checkbox.

When the Leaves Only checkbox is selected, only elements without child elements are displayed in the table.

In order parent elements of leaves are displayed, select the Display Parent Elements checkbox.

The Display Parent Elements checkbox works only if the Separating Level Elements option is enabled for dimension (analog of the Level Elements to Separate Columns checkbox for heading or sidehead). If separating of level elements is not set up, on selecting the Display Parent Elements checkbox it is prompted to enable the option for dimension settings.

NOTE. This setting is available only for dimensions.

The Union checkbox is available when the In one column/row with the previous checkbox is selected:

After the checkbox is selected, the following parameters are available:

• Elements for merging. Select element that will be merged with the previous in one cell. All elements of the current dimension are displayed. By default, the first list element is selected.

• Name. Select name type from the list:

• Inital. Displays initial element name.

• From Merged. Displays merged element name.

• Composite. Displays name of initial and merged elements.

• Separator. Determine separator between names of merged elements in the input field. Item is available on selecting the Composite name type.

Selection of parameters leads to the selection of the Elements in One Cell with Elements of the Previous Checkbox.

NOTE. The merging setting is available for all dimensions, except the top in the heading and the leftmost in the sidehead.

The first drop-down list controls expander visibility:

• Inherit From. The behavior is identical to the Expanders checkbox in heading or sidehead settings.

• With Expanders. Expanders of this level or dimension are displayed.

• Without Expanders. Expanders of this level or dimension are hidden.

When expanders are hidden, all collapsed child elements will be expanded in the table:

Position

It determines expander position on using several dimension names:

• In All Names. Expanders are displayed for each name.

• Fixed. Expanders are displayed only for the name specified in the Position box.

NOTE. Position setup is available only for dimensions.

Behavior of Expanders on Calculation

It determines expander behavior on refreshing report or selection.

• Inherit From. The behavior is identical to the Calculation Behavior expander radio button in heading or sidehead settings.

• Collapse. Expanders are collapsed on refreshing report or selection.

• Expand. Expanders are expanded on refreshing report or selection.

The first drop-down list controls whether there are paddings for hierarchy child elements:

• Inherit From. The behavior is identical to the Level Elements Margins checkbox in heading or sidehead settings.

• With Paddings. This dimension will contain paddings.

• Without Paddings. This dimension will not contain paddings.

NOTE. Padding settings are available only for dimensions.

Position

It determines position of paddings on using several dimension names:

• In All Names. Paddings are displayed for each name.

• Fixed. Paddings are set only for the name specified in the Position box.

Size

It determines padding size.

• Inherit From. Padding size is identical to value of the Level Elements Margins box in heading or sidehead settings.

• Manually. Dimension padding size is set manually in the next box.

If the Inherit From option is selected, behavior is the same as the Element Levels to Separate Columns checkbox in heading or sidehead settings.

To arrange different levels in one column, select the Do Not Separate item.

To arrange different levels in separate columns, select the Separate item:

If the Inherit From option is selected, behavior is the same as the Child Elements Before Parent checkbox in heading or sidehead settings.

To display child elements of the hierarchy after parents, select the After Parents item.

To display child elements of the hierarchy before parent, select the Before Parents item:

If the Inherit From option is selected, behavior is the same as the Repeat Level Element for Children checkbox in heading or sidehead settings.

To display parent elements after or before children, select the Do Not Repeat item.

To display parent elements of the hierarchy after or before children, select the Repeat item:

The initial table contains two dimensions by rows: The Levels in All Dimensions checkbox is set by default:

The table looks alike in cases when:

• The second dimension is selected, the Levels in All Dimensions checkbox is set.

• The level of the second dimension is selected, the In One Column/Row with the Previous checkbox is selected, the Levels in All Dimensions checkbox is set automatically.

Deselect all checkboxes, the table will look as follows:

Select the All Dimensions checkbox, the table will look as:

The table will look alike in case when the second dimension is selected and the In One Column/Row with the Previous checkbox is selected, the All Dimensions checkbox is set automatically.

Select the All Dimensions and Levels in All Dimensions checkboxes, the table will look as follows:

The table will look alike when the level of the second dimension is selected and the In One Column/Row with the Previous and All Dimensions checkboxes are selected, the Levels in All Dimensions checkbox will be set automatically.

Select the second dimension or the level of the second dimension and select the In One Column/Row with the Previous and the Elements in One Cell with Elements of the Previous checkboxes, the table will look as follows:

As a result, the table became more compact.
