Getting Started with the Reports Tool

To create a new report:

• In object navigator:

• Click the New Object > Regular Report button in the Create group on the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Create > Regular Report context menu item of the object navigator

• Select cube, time series database or relational object (table, query, view,external table, ODBC data source) and:

• Click the Open > In Reports button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Open With > Reports item in the context menu of selected object.

Using this creation method, a table based on the selected object slice is added to the report.

• In the Reports tool select the Create item in the Report main menu.

A new report can be created only in desktop application.

To open ready report for edit:

• In object navigator select the report and do one of the following operations:

• Click the Edit button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab

• Select the Edit item in the report context menu.

• Press F4.

• Open the Report main menu in the Reports tool and select the report opening option:

• Open. Select a report from object navigator in the opened dialog box.

• Open > Report Template. Select report template in the opened dialog box. A detailed description is given in the Working with Report Templates section.

• Open > Report from File. A standard file selection dialog box opens. Specify a file with *.ppreport or *.p4r extension.

To open ready report for view:

• In object navigator select the report and do one of the following operations:

• Click the View button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab

• Select the View item in the report context menu.

• Double-click the report

• In the Reports tool:

1. Select the Regular Report > Open item in the main menu. The command is available only in the web application.

2. Click the View Report item on the Home ribbon tab.

• Main Menu. It contains a list of commands that are used to execute various operations with report.

• Ribbon applications. It contains buttons for creating and setting up a report.

• Side Panel. It is used to set up parameters of report objects and to manage data source dimensions.

• Quick Access Toolbar. Contains frequently used commands.

• Status Bar. It contains results of basic aggregates calculation of the selected table cell range.

• Working Area. It is used to build a report.

• Formula Bar. It is used to enter data and formulas to table cells and show addresses of selected cells.

• Sheet Tabs. They are used to manage report sheets.

• Repository Panel. It contains the list of objects that can be used as reports data sources.

• The Controls Panel. It is used to create controls using which data will be manipulated on working with ready report.
