Working with Validation Results

Exceptions are revealed during validation rule execution. Exceptions are observations or time series not corresponding to validation rule conditions.

After the validation rule is executed, exceptions are displayed in the validation execution area, if the validation rule was executed in the express report, dashboard, regular report.

Make sure that the side panel is displayed.
Select the observation in the data table.
To view exceptions of the time series containing observation, select the Series radio button on the side panel, to view observation exceptions - the Observation radio button.
Go to the Validation Exceptions tab:

Operations with Validation Rules

To open validation rule for viewing and editing, double-click the validation legend.

The Validation Rule dialog box opens.

TIP. To open the validation rule, use the Validation Rules side panel tab.

Legend is used to show exception formatting style in validation rules.

To show legend, click the Legend button on the Advanced Analytics ribbon tab. Legend contains exception formatting styles and names of only those rules which have found errors.

To hide legend, release the Legend button.

Operations with Exceptions

Select series or observation with exception.
Go to the Validation Exceptions side panel tab.

The tab shows all rules highlighted exceptions of the series or observation.

To view and edit rule parameters, select it and click the Open button. The Validation Rule dialog box is opened.

For fast movement between exceptions in the data table, use buttons on the Advanced Analytics ribbon tab.

. Selects the previous exception.
. Selects the next exception.
. Selects the first exception.
. Selects the last exception.

Moving is executed relative to the current selected cell.

To clear validation results, click the Clear button on the Advanced Analytics ribbon tab.

The list of running validations and their results will be cleared.

The Advanced Analytics ribbon tab and the validation Exceptions side panel tab will be unavailable.

Working with Exception Explanation

Each exception can be explained by user. To explain exception:

Select the exception in the data table.
Click the Explain button on the Advanced Analytics ribbon tab. The Explain Exception dialog box opens:

Type in explanation text.

The red corner will displayed in the cell with explained exception.

To view explanation text, hover the mouse over the cell. The explanation will be displayed as a tooltip.

To hide explained exceptions, click the Hide Explained Exceptions button on the Advanced Analytics ribbon tab.

Exceptions with explanations will be hidden, that is cells formatting style will be standard. The red corner informing about explanation presence will stay.

Select explained exceptions in the data table.
Click the Explain button on the Advanced Analytics ribbon tab. The Explain Exception dialog box opens.
Delete explanation text.

The explanation will be deleted.

Operations available only on data validation in the current time series database:

To view validation results once again, select the validation result on the Validation Rules side panel tab. Next:

Select the Open context menu item.
Double-click the results.

The sheet containing validation results will be added to the current workbook.

Filtering is applied to the series tree and is available, if:

The group of validation rules was executed.
The different importance level was set for rules included in the group.

To filter results, use the group of buttons located in the top right angle of the workbook:

The buttons are placed left to right by increasing importance: the extreme left button - minimum importance, the extreme right button - maximum importance.

To display only the series highlighted by the rule of specific importance level, click the button corresponding to the required importance level.

To display all series highlighted by the group of validation rules, release all buttons.

To delete validation results, select the validation result on the Validation Results side panel tab. Next:

Click the Delete button.
Select the Delete item in the context menu.

A confirmation will be required.
