Via Formula

The Via Formula population method enables the user to get data by calculating an equation based on input variables. Any arithmetic operations, parentheses, statistical, mathematical and custom functions or methods can be used in the equation.

If the structure of the output variable includes additional dimensions, a list of boxes is shown under the Frequency drop-down list. The number of these boxes matches the number of additional dimensions. The Use One Specification checkbox is also added, on selecting of which the same input variables and the same equation to calculate all elements is used for all dimension elements. The checkbox is deselected by default, and various input variables and equations can be set for each dimension element.

Input Variables. The list of modeling container variables, on which the equation is based. Variables are not used explicitly in the formula. Each variable is associated with an element that has the identifier of the Xn type, where n is the sequence number.

Click the Load Data button after you have created an equation to start loading data. If the equation contains any errors (invalid operators, non-existing element, and so on), an appropriate error message is displayed that shows the number of the position containing this error. After the message closes, the cursor is placed to the indicated position of the equation.

If the equation is correct, the dialog box opens:

In this dialog box select the period and selection by all available dimensions and common scenarios of the variables included into the equation.
