Setting Up Map Tooltips

Tooltips are used to show additional information about map territories. For example:

To show tooltips, select the checkbox in the title of the Tooltips side panel tab. To set up tooltips, use the same side panel tab.

Make sure that the side panel is displayed.
Select a map in the workspace.
Select the Format radio button on the side panel and go to the Tooltips tab.

By default the tooltip text is formed from names of elements selected in dimension of map data source.

To change tooltip text:

Select the Special Tooltip checkbox.
Enter tooltip text in the corresponding box. The text can be arbitrary.

Specified tooltip text will be shown on hovering the mouse over the map territory.

To insert values of various metrics into the text:

Put the cursor to the position where metrics values should be inserted.
Click the Add button and in the menu select a metric, which value must be inserted in the tooltip. The following groups are available:

Templates. Standard tooltip templates based on metric values.

Metrics. Metrics names, which values can be inserted into the tooltip text. A set of metrics available for inserting into the tooltip text depends on the metrics dimension.

The value of the metric will be inserted into the current position of a cursor.

Set tooltip font parameters:

Font. Select one of the fonts available in the operating system.
Font size. Set the required font size. Size is set in points and it can be selected in the drop-down list or entered manually. Range of available values: [1; 72].
Font style. Click the buttons that determine font style:

B. Bold.
K. Italic.
U. Underline.

When the button is pressed, the corresponding font style is used. Several styles can be used simultaneously, for example, pressed buttons B and I result in bold italic font style.

Font color. Select font color in the drop-down color palette.

To set up tooltip background fill parameters, use the Fill group. If the checkbox is selected, tooltip solid fill is used. Fill options:

Color. Select tooltip background colors in the drop-down palette:
Transparency. Set tooltip background transparency degree. 100% corresponds to complete transparency (background fill is invisible), 0% corresponds to complete opacity.

To set up tooltip border, use the Border group. If the checkbox is selected, the border of the tooltip is displayed and it can be set up. Select the method of border color determining:

Specified Color. Select the color of tooltip border.
Factor Color. Border color is the same as the color of the territory for which the tooltip is shown.

To set up the type and the width of the border line use the appropriate fields.
