BI search is a full-text search of data by keywords in the structure of multidimensional repository sources. BI search work in Foresight Analytics Platform is implemented via the Apache Solr search engine. This service can be used for the following:
Search by sources with forming a necessary data slice (search is executed by source dimension elements).
Search of sources by their metadata (for example, by name, identifier or description).
Extending of the list of indexed data by creating custom fields (field values are filled via a Fore-based macro).
Search by free dimensions, which elements are indexed but not displayed in the search results (smart search).
Managing search relevancy by different fields.
Installation of BI search service includes the following steps:
Setting up search and indexing in the desktop application. After determining settings, BI search is also available on BI server work.
Specified settings determine how BI search is executed (search by data, metadata, taking into account free dimensions - smart search), the list of indexed fields is determined and also search relevance by these fields. If there are errors on setting up, indexing and use of BI search, see the Solving Possible Problems in Foresight Analytics Platform subsection.
NOTE. The required software for BI search service can be installed to any available computer. System requirements are determined by requirements to the installed software.
