Variation Coefficient

The variation coefficient characterizes the relative measure of deviation of the measured values from the arithmetic mean:

The greater is the value of the variation coefficient, the relatively wider is the spread and the less is the smoothness of analyzed values. If the variation coefficient is less than 10%, the variability of a variational series is considered to be minor; if it is between 10% and 20%, it is considered to be medium; if it is greater than 20% and less than 33% it is significant. However, if the variation coefficient exceeds 33%, this means that the information is heterogeneous and you must exclude the greatest and the least values.
