Getting Started with the Dashboards Tool

To create a new dashboard:

In the object navigator:

Click the New Object > Dashboard button in the Create group on the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Create > Dashboard context menu item of the object navigator.
Select cube or time series databases and:

Click the Open > In Dashboard button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Open With > Dashboard Designer item in the context menu of the selected object. This item is available only in the desktop application.

In this case, a table based on the selected object slice is added to the dashboard.

In the Dashboards tool select the New Document item in the Document main menu.

To open a ready dashboard for edit:

In the object navigator select the dashboard and execute one of the operations:

Click the Edit button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Edit item in the dashboard's context menu.
Press F4.

Open the Document main menu in the Dashboards tool and select the dashboard opening option:

Open. In the dialog box that opens select the dashboard from the object navigator.
Open > Open from File. A standard file selection dialog box opens. Specify a file with the *.ppdash extension. If the opened dashboard contains a report of the Time Series type, it will be empty, because its export to the *.ppdash format is not supported.

To open a ready dashboard for view:

In the object navigator select a dashboard and execute one of the operations:

Click the View button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab.
Select the View item in the dashboard's context menu.
Double-click the dashboard.

In the Dashboards tool:

Select the Document > Open main menu item. Select the dashboard in the dialog box that opens.
Click the View button on the Home or Insert ribbon tab.

The web application enables the user to open a ready dashboard without displaying ribbon for view.

To hide ribbon on opening dashboard for view:

Set the ViewModePreview parameter with the True value in the PP.xml. Ribbon for all dashboards will not be displayed on opening for view.
Set the "mode" parameter with the preview value in the browser address bar with the opened dashboard for view. The ribbon will not be displayed only for opened dashboard.

NOTE. If the parameter value is set, it is not available to view slides.

After executing one of the operations, on viewing the dashboard, the main tool window will display only dashboard without ribbon.

Main menu. It contains a list of commands that are used to execute various operations with a dashboard.
Ribbon. It contains buttons for creating and setting up a dashboard.
Side panel. It contains settings of dashboard parameters and of data source dimension control.
Working area. It is used to build a dashboard.
Slide panel. It is used to work with slides.

When building a dashboard to be worked with in the web application and to be viewed in the mobile application, take into account the features and limitations.

Setting Up the Dashboards Tool

Select the Tools > Parameters item in the dashboard's main menu.

Use the Current Document group of tabs.

In the Format Styles drop-down list select the styles table, which styles will be used to format visualizers in the current dashboard.

Use the Dashboard group of tabs.

Set shortcut keys to quickly access commands of main menu and toolbar by using the Interface tab.

Determine platform settings using the following tabs:

External Modules. Set program modules expanding Foresight. Analytics Platform.
Update. Determine version update parameters of Foresight. Analytics Platform.
Language Settings. Select the interface and help system language of Foresight. Analytics Platform.
Connection. Determine settings of proxy service to get access of Foresight. Analytics Platform to Internet
Help. Determine help type used by Foresight. Analytics Platform.
