It is available to set up the view of each dimension displayed in the Selection group of tabs on the side panel and in the report workspace by:
Setting the type of displaying of element names.
Displaying of group of elements.
Using alternative hierarchy.
Using element sorting.
The user can determine one or several dictionary attributes to be used to show element names for the dimension.
Open dimension tab on the side panel.
Select attributes of element names in the drop-down list of:
The Names button in the View group on the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
The Name item in the context menu of dimension element on the side panel.
The Names item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
The attribute that contains element names is used by default.
A detailed description of dimension name setup is given in the Element Names section.
The operation can be executed if the dictionary, for which a report's data source is built, has at least one group of elements.
A group of elements is a repository object used in dictionaries to limit the list of available elements.
To display a group of elements:
Go to the dimension tab on the side panel.
Select a group of elements in the drop-down menu of:
The Group of Elements button in the View group on the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
The Group of Elements item in the context menu of the dimension element on the side panel.
The Group of Elements item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
To show all dimension elements, select the Reset item.
On working with dimension elements, it is available to create a group by selected elements.
NOTE. If a calculated element is in dimension, alternative or custom hierarchy is set, a group of elements cannot be created.
The operation can be executed if the dictionary, for which a report's data source is built, has at least one alternative hierarchy.
An alternative hierarchy is a hierarchy of any other dictionary linked with the hierarchy of the main dictionary for elements association or a custom hierarchy created via editing dimensions or adding a new calculated element.
To use alternative hierarchy:
Go to the dimension tab on the side panel.
Select the alternative hierarchy in the drop-down menu of:
The Alternative Hierarchy button in the View group on the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
The Alternative Hierarchy item in the context menu of the dimension element on the side panel.
The Alternative Hierarchy item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
To show main dimension hierarchy, select the Reset item.
To sort dimension elements displayed on dimension tabs in the Selection group on the side panel, select the sorting method in the drop-down list of:
The Sorting button in the View group on the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
The Sorting item in the context menu of dimension element on the side panel.
The Sorting item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
Available sorting methods:
Ascending.
Descending.
By attribute. Select a dimension attribute to sort by in the drop-down list.
The order of dimension elements is applied only to hierarchy of the dimension displayed on the side panel, and is not saved with the report.
IMPORTANT. The order of dimension elements in the table is not synchronized with the order of dimension elements on the side panel. For detailed description of dimension element order setup see the Sorting section.
To show dimension elements with default sorting, select the Reset item.
If dimension element hierarchy is collapsed, the icon is displayed next to the element, if dimension element hierarchy is expanded, the icon is displayed.
To collapse dimension hierarchy, open dimension tab on the side panel and:
Click the Collapse All button in the View group of the Hierarchy ribbon button.
Select the Collapse All item in the context menu of the dimension element on the side panel.
Select the Collapse All item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
If the hierarchy elements have expanded subelements, they will be collapsed.
To expand dimension hierarchy, open dimension tab on the side panel and:
Click the Expand All button in the View group of the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
Select the Expand All item in the context menu of the dimension element on the side panel.
Select the Expand All item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
If the hierarchy elements have collapsed subelements, they will be expanded.
When working with dimensions, the following operations are available:
To determine custom dimension settings, open the dimension tab on the side panel and:
Click the Edit Dimension button in the Dimension group of the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
Select the Dimension > Edit item in the context menu of the dimension on the side panel.
Select the Dimension > Edit item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
The Edit Dimension dialog box opens after executing the action. Specify dimension settings.
To restore all edited and deleted dimension elements, open the dimension tab on the side panel and:
Click the Restore button in the Dimension group of the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
Select the Dimension > Restore item in the context menu of the dimension on the side panel.
Select the Dimension > Restore item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
User-added elements will be deleted.
On working with elements the following operations are available:
To add a new calculated element to dimension, open the dimension tab on the side panel and:
Click the New Item button in the Item group of the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
Select the Item > Add New item in the context menu of the dimension or dimension element on the dimension tab.
Select the Dimension > Add New item in the dimension menu on the side panel.
To set up the dimension element, open the dialog box of expression editor.
A new dimension element is added to the dimension, which tab is opened in the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.
To edit the element formula in the dimension, open the dimension tab on the side panel and:
Click the Edit Formula button in the Item group of the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
Select the Edit Formula item in the context menu of the element on the side panel.
To edit the formula of dimension calculated item, the dialog box of expression editor opens.
To rename the element, select it on the side panel and:
Click the Rename button in the Item group of the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
Select the Item > Rename item in the element's context menu on the side panel.
Enter new element name and:
Press the ENTER key.
Click the free report area with the main mouse button.
Element name is changed in the dimension list on the side panel and other report objects where it is displayed.
To delete the element from the dimension, open the dimension tab on the side panel and:
Click the Delete button in the Item group of the Hierarchy ribbon tab.
Select the Item > Delete item in the element's context menu on the side panel.
The element is deleted from the dimension, table, and other report objects in that it was displayed.
