Getting Started with Update Manager

To create a new update:

From update manager:

Select the Update > Create main menu item.
Click the Create Update button on the Update Manager panel.

From the security manager Select the Repository > Version Update > Create main menu item.
From the object navigator select the Service > Update Manager > Create main menu item.

To open ready update:

From the security manager Select the Repository > Version Update > Open main menu item.

From file:

Select the Update > Open from File main menu item in the update manager or click the Open Update File on the Update Manager panel.
In object navigator select the Service > Update Manager > Open main menu item.

After this a standard file selection dialog box opens. Select a *.pef or *.pefx file.

From repository:

In the update manager select the Update > Open from Repository main menu item. In the opened dialog box, select update object from repository objects.
In object navigator select object with the Update type:

Select the Open context menu item
Select the Open main menu item.
Press the ENTER key.

After executing one of the actions, a standard file location dialog box opens where the user should specify the update file and click the Open button.

NOTE. On opening ready update has some features.

NOTE. To update objects, log in to the system under credentials of administrator or member of the Administrators group.

Main Menu. It contains a list of commands that are used to execute various operations with update.
The Update Manager Panel. It contains frequently used commands. The panel is the same as quick access panel.
The Update Panel. It is used to create an update structure, it consists of quick access panel and object tree that are added to the update.
The Object Update Options Panel. It is used to view and set up update options of the selected object on the Update panel.
The Repository Tab. It contains a tree of all existing repository objects and objects contained inside container objects: modeling container, MDM repository.
The Modifications Analysis tab. It is used to get information on modifications of repository objects by specified parameters.
The Update Options Tab. It is used to determine options of edited update.

For update objects on the Update panel, additional icons can overlap:

. The Skip Object parameter is enabled for the object in the update options.
. For the SQL commands the database, specified in the connection with the selected Use Another Connection checkbox, is not found. Check SQL command parameters.
