Searching for Dimension Element

This method enables the user to immediately get the set of elements containing a certain string.

To start the search, execute one of the following operations:

• In the Dimensions area of the Data Sources and Data Slices panel click the button and enter the text to search.

• Enter the text to search, the focus should be in the closed tree of elements.

As the string is being entered into the box, the element list shows only those elements, which names contain the entered string:

The search result appears as a tree that contains the found elements together with their parent elements. If the list of found elements contains dimensions available in the selection, they are to be highlighted. When the string is entered, click the Up or Down keyboard keys to move the focus to the list of found elements, which enables the user to work with selection in this list. In non-fixed dictionaries, selected elements are to be added to previous dictionary selection. Only one element can be selected in fixed dictionaries.

If only one element is found, it can be selected by pressing the ENTER key. If the list enables multiple selection, the found element is added to the existing selection. If the list enables only single selection, only this element is selected.

After entering the text into search bar, the button changes to . Clicking this button clears the search bar and shows all dictionary elements.

This method enables the user to sequentially get the elements containing the entered string.

With the dictionary tree open, press F3.

After that the text edit box appears at the bottom of the expanded dimension elements tree. Enter the name (or some characters in the name) of the searched element:

After entering the text, press the ENTER key or click the button. If the search result is positive, the focus moves to the found element. Clicking the ENTER key or the button again moves focus to the next element that matches the entered string.
