Filling Dictionary with Data

To create an element, select a parent element in the element tree on the Dictionary Elements tab, then:

NOTE. The Add command is unavailable if the Elements have Access Permissions checkbox is selected in the desktop application (the Description tab), and the current user is not included into any of the label groups, that have effective permissions to add elements to the current dictionary.

The Dictionary Element Properties dialog box opens. The dialog box appearance depends on dictionary attributes and display mode. To create an element, determine values of required attributes (marked with an asterisk).

Select a source element in the Source Dictionary Elements area and then:

Select the Add Element to Dictionary context menu item.
Click the button on the toolbar.
Drag the element to the Dictionary Elements area.

After executing the operation the element is added to the composite dictionary.

To edit the dictionary element:

Click the Edit button on the toolbar.
Select the Edit item in the element's context menu.

The Dictionary Element Properties dialog box opens. Make required changes.

A box with a standard date editor is displayed for attribute of the Date type. If this attribute can have an empty value, the date editor includes the following checkbox:

Deselect the checkbox if the attribute value is missing. The date editor cannot be edited when this checkbox is deselected.

If a dictionary element can be hidden, the Hide attribute is added in the Dictionary Element Properties dialog box. A dictionary element is hidden when the Hide attribute is added.

This attribute is displayed in the Dictionary Element Properties dialog box if attribute value is can always be edited in the element card.

If the dictionary element attribute can have multiple values, the Dictionary Element Properties dialog box will show a drop-down list next to this attribute, in which several attribute values can be selected.

Adding an element to multilingual MDM dictionary, displays the drop-down list Set Values for Language in the Dictionary Element Properties box:

This list contains languages specified on the Translations tab of the dictionary in the desktop application.

In the desktop application attributes, which values must be translated into different languages are marked with a flag icon. To enter the attribute value in basic language and its translation, change a language in the Set Values for Language drop-down list.

The Dictionary Element Properties dialog box boxes that correspond to system attributes are marked with the * symbol and are required to fill in.

On filling in the dialog box, use the mouse pointer and/or the TAB key to navigate between the fields. Pressing the TAB key moves entry focus from top to bottom. To move the focus from bottom to top, hold down the SHIFT key while pressing the TAB key.

If the dictionary element attribute can have multiple values or is a linked attribute, the Dictionary Element Properties dialog box will show a drop-down list next to this attribute, in which one or several attribute values can be selected. Such attributes enable the sue to search by element names of the dictionary, with which a link is established. To execute search, click the button or start entering the searched word.

Custom dictionary element attributes are displayed in the Dictionary Element Properties dialog box if these attributes are not hidden.

Text attribute value can be entered and edited in various ways:

Directly in the value input field.
In the string editor. To do this:

Click the button at the end of the attribute value input box.
Press the ENTER key in the field for entering attribute value.

After executing one of the actions, the string editor opens.

To save entered values of dictionary element attributes, click the OK button in the Dictionary Element Properties dialog box.

Data Import and Export

Data Import

Click the Data Import button on the toolbar of the Dictionary Elements tab. Select the required import schema in the drop-down list. Export schemas are created on the Import tab of the dictionary in the desktop application.

Data Export

Click the Dictionary Export button on the toolbar of the Dictionary Elements tab. Select the required export schema in the drop-down list. Export schemas are created on the Export tab of the dictionary in the desktop application.

NOTE. Dictionary is exported considering access permissions. The user can export only the elements, which he is allowed to read.
