Query

Query is a sampling of table data based on a specified SQL query. Queries as well as tables and views can be used as a data source for dimensions and cubes.

Create a query

A table creation wizard opens after executing one of the operations. On the Basic Properties determine object name and identifier. On the Object type page, select created object type in the list - Query:

NOTE. It is available to create and process queries only in the desktop application.

Working with a Query

To edit the query selected in the object navigator:

Click the edit button on the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Edit item in the query's context menu.
Press F4.

A query creation and editing wizard opens.

To browse query data, select the required object in the object navigator and do one of the following:

Click the Open button, located on the Home ribbon tab.
Double-click on the query name with the main button of the mouse.
Select the Open item in the query's context menu.

A dialog box with data opens. Description of this dialog box and principles of working are described in the Working with Data Set section.

To refresh and correctly display information on fields of the Query object, select the Refresh Query Information item in the query's context menu in the object navigator.

To start query designer, select the Designer item in the query's context menu. The query designer dialog box opens in the edit mode.

If the repository is connected to version control system, the query can be added to the system to change its version. To do this, select the Add to VCS context menu item in the object navigator. After adding the object to VCS server it is available to track its changes. The version control system stores query text and parameter settings.
