Prognoz Platform 9 Activation

Prognoz Platform 9 and platform-based applications check license when running.

A license is an activation code for a feature that determines available product use options. Licenses are combined into a lserv license file without extension.

The term "feature" is used to identify a Prognoz Platform 9 tool or functionality that are licensed.

Valid license enables the user to work with a tool or function in the Prognoz Platform 9 desktop and web applications. If there is no valid license, operation calls are not available for the corresponding Prognoz Platform 9 tool.

Prognoz Platform 9 uses a predefined set of features and enables the user to use application features to protect application systems based on Prognoz Platform 9. For details about application features, see the Application System Licensing section.

License type and period are set for each license.

Prognoz Platform 9 activation depends on the license type and application in use:

Desktop application. To work in the desktop application, activate Prognoz Platform 9 using stand-alone or network license by means of license manager.
Web application. To be able to work in the web application, activate Prognoz Platform 9 at BI server using network or temporary stand-alone license. If BI server is installed on Windows OS, use desktop application license manager for activation. If BI server is installed on Linux OS, activate Prognoz Platform 9 using special commands.
Mobile application. License is not checked in the mobile application. License is required to prepare and publish objects to mobile application server.

Using network license requires to install a license server. On using a license server, take into account license check order.

To activate the application, view parameters of the license in use, manage search settings in Windows OS, use the license manager; in Linux OS use special commands.

License Check

Licenses in the desktop and web applications are checked every time Prognoz Platform 9 runs, on each repository login and connection, on addressing a tool or functionality.

If on startup and repository login no necessary valid licenses are found:

In the desktop application, the Information dialog box opens specifying license search results.
A message requesting Prognoz Platform 9 activation appears in the web application. To activate, contact the BI server administrator.

If on addressing a tool or functionality a valid license for the corresponding feature is not found, a license restriction message appears.

TIP. When working in the desktop application, the user can view the features, for which there are valid licenses, in the About dialog box. To open the dialog box, select the Help > About main menu item.
