Prognoz Platform 9 can be updated using an installer or by running the cfg.exe file.
Update options can be set:
On setting up Prognoz Platform 9 from file.
On the Update tab in the Parameters dialog box, which opens on clicking the Settings button in the login dialog box is used as a repository language.
On the Update tab in the Parameters dialog box, which opens on selecting the Tools > Parameters item in the main menu of the object navigator.
The installer can be used to update Prognoz Platform 9 and help systems only within one release. In order to update help systems, the Prognoz Platform 9 distribution kit should be located within one level with MSI installers of documentation (PP9Help_RU.msi, PP9Help_EN.msi). Only the previously installed help systems are to be updated.
Prognoz Platform 9 comes as a distribution kit. The file name depends on the distribution kit. Installer behavior varies depending on the distribution kit selected for updating the version currently installed at the workstation. Consider updating of Prognoz Platform version 9.0.10:
If a distribution kit of the later assembly of Prognoz Platform 9 is started for updating, (for example, 9.0.11) and it has the same name, that the distribution kit used to install the system, the confirmation dialog box opens:
If distribution kit of the earlier build of Prognoz Platform 9 is started for updating (for example, 9.0.09) or of the same build and having the same name, that the distribution kit used to install the system, the message appears informing that a later or the same version (9.0.10) has been already installed. Installation of the current version is aborted.
If distribution kit of the later assembly of Prognoz Platform 9 is started for updating (for example, 9.0.11), and its configuration differs from the one already installed, the older version is deleted, the new one is installed.
If a distribution kit of the earlier assembly of Prognoz Platform 9 is started for updating (for example, 9.0.09), and its configuration differs from the one already installed, a message appears informing that a later or the same assembly is already installed. Installation of the current version is aborted.
Updating by means of the cfg.exe file from previous versions (including Prognox Platform 5) is not supported, but it is available within one release of Prognoz Platform 9.

IMPORTANT. Prognoz Platform 9 must be updated by the user who has local administrator permissions. The cfg.exe file is run asking for administrator permissions.
The cfg.exe file is used when autoupdate is enabled. It updates Prognoz Platform 9 and help systems.
IMPORTANT. The BI server and web application can be updated only using the installer (distribution kits PP9BIServer.exe and PP9WebServer.exe).
This file is included in the standard setup package, it is stored in the folder with installed Prognoz Platform 9: C:\ProgramFiles\Foresight\AutoUpdate. This file is started on selecting the Programs > Prognoz Platform 9.
If there are several versions of Prognoz Platform 9, when starting the cfg.exe file use the Profile key and specify the updated version. If cfg.exe has been started without this key, the installer updates the version specified in the registry.

The Default key, where the key value is the launched release, for example, 9.0.
On starting the cfg.exe file, autoupdate settings will be used in Prognoz Platform 9. If autoupdate is enabled, it is checked for a later assembly of Prognoz Platform 9:
The source contains a later assembly of Prognoz Platform 9. Prognoz Platform 9 is updated, after which the login dialog box opens.
The source contains a later assembly. The current release of Prognoz Platform 9 will be deleted, a new release will be installed, after which the login dialog box opens.
The update source contains no updates. Prognoz Platform 9 is started to work with repository objects: the system login dialog box opens.
